Eligibility for Admission to M. Sc. Mathematics (Specialization: Applied Mathematics) & M. Sc. Mathematics (Regular as well as Evening Courses)

  • Bachelors' degree of 10+2+3 pattern with Mathematics as one of the subjects or any other degree recognized equivalent thereto from any recognized university.
  • Candidates appearing in the Final Year Examination of the qualifying degree or those whose result of the same is awaited, can also apply provisionally.
     

Procedure for Admission to M. Sc. Mathematics (Specialization: Applied Mathematics) & M. Sc. Mathematics (Regular as well as Evening Courses)

  • For admission to M. Sc. Mathematics (Spl. Appl. Maths) & Masters in Mathematics programmes, (Regular as well as Evening), all eligible candidates are required to undergo written Entrance Test which will be conducted at BGSB University Campus, Rajouri and any other Centres if the University so decides.
  • Syllabus and Model Question Paper for the Entrance Test will be available on the University website from where these can be downloaded. Admit Card for Entrance Test will be collected by the candidates from the Department, Camp or Regional Ofces of the University.
  • Admission will be based on the Combined merit of students in the Entrance Test & the qualifying examination (70:30).

Eligibility for admission to M. Phil

  • Masters degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates) or its equivalent grade 'B' in UGC 7 point scale, recognized by UGC.

 

Mode of admission to M. Phil

  • The University usually issues notification for admission in print and electronic media somewhere  in October / November after results of the Final semester of Masters programmes of the University are declared or on some other date as the University may decide. The admission to M. Phil Programme is made thorough an Entrance Test followed by an interview in which the applicants are expected to discuss and make presentations about areas in which they intend to pursue research. To earn eligibility for appearing in the interview a candidate is required to secure at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test. Merit for admission is determined on the basis of the combined score of applicants in the Entrance Test and the Interview.

University Fellowship

  • The University awards one Fellowship to the candidate who tops the Entrance Test (written plus presentation & interview) provided that he/she does not already hold Fellowship/ Assistantship from any other source.

Eligibility for admission to Ph.D Programme

For admission to the Doctor of Philosophy programme a candidate must fulfill any of the following eligibility criteria:

  • 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade “B” in the UGC 7 -point Scale in M. Phil. Course Work (50% for SC / ST, OBC - non creamy layer and differently abled candidates).
  • Masters degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Masters degree, in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, with at least 55% marks (50% for SC / ST, OBC candidates) in aggregate or its equivalent grade “B” in the UGC 7 - point scale.

Mode of Admission to Ph.D Programme

  • Notification for admission to Ph. D. progamme is issued by the University somewhere in October / November after  results  of the Final semester of Masters programmes of the University are declared or on some other date as the University may decide.  The admission to Ph. University Fellowship

 

  • The University awards one Fellowship to the candidate who tops the Entrance Test (written, presentation and interview) provided that he/she does not hold Fellowship / Assistantship. Candidates who are exempted to appear in written test but are desirous to compete for fellowship are required to appear in the written test to be able to qualify for the fellowship.
